NEWS PRODUCTION
Experience counts.
From reporting on war overseas to manning the front lines in Canada’s network news business ... telling the stories, informing Canadians.
For years I was the senior writer for “Canada’s Most Trusted News Anchor”, Lloyd Robertson of CTV National News. And later worked with present Chief News Anchor Lisa Laflamme.

After a decade with CTV National News, this was my final night.

Lead writer for Canada’s #1 national newscast, seen by more than a million viewers every night. Through federal elections, international crises, breaking news, and major national events I helped shape content and coverage for CTV National News on the biggest stories of the day. I also helped produce special event coverage, when Lloyd anchored from Washington and other cities.
Other roles I performed at CTV News included lineup editor, producer, on the assignment desk, and as online editor.
Later, as a consultant, I developed and lead news workshops for various broadcast clients in Canada, instructing writers and producers on ways to improve news writing and presentation.
As a features storyteller for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics I produced and wrote many athlete profile pieces that aired during Olympic coverage on CTV, TSN and Sportsnet.
And in Vancouver during the games I helped produced daily coverage of Canada’s shining moment in the international Olympic spotlight.

Next, a return to news production in a big way as I was hired to design, build and launch a new national news channel, the Sun News Network. All my production skills, problem solving and news know how were put to the test as I created news programming, oversaw studio and bureau designs, and recruited, trained and managed staff.
In the summer of 2015 I was welcomed back to CTV National News, where I was an assignment editor and writer for Chief News Anchor Lisa Laflamme. It was great being back with Canada's number one national newscast, with nightly audiences of more than one million viewers.
A wealth of experience in news production: from frontline editorial roles and feature storytelling to executive and managerial positions.
